So, recap, my interest group is called Expresiones Culturales, and it's all about art and theater and cinema and creativity and music and YEAH! So this week in Sevilla, there is a European film festival! AND EVERYONE IN MY INTEREST GROUP GETS 20 FREE VOUCHERS FOR TWENTY FREE MOVIES.
Today, Alison and I went to see the movie that was playing at 8. We had to pick up our tickets earlier, and it's A GOOD THING WE DID because the line once we got there at 8 was ridiculously long.
The movie though.. was a little strange... but I liked it a lot! It was this French animated film (so, like a cartoon).. but it was NOT for children. It was this really dark comedy.. BUT it had a happy ending! It was called The Suicide Shop, and it was basically exactly what you'd expect... (By the way, there were subtitles in Spanish and English.. so I got to practice Spanish while still having English for backup!)
Basically, for whatever reason, the entire world is depressed.. like it's a thing.. everyone all of a sudden realized that life sucks. So now, there are SO MANY SUICIDES that 1.) If it's done in public, the police will fine you (yes, even after you're dead) and 2.) You can run a profitable, well respected business selling suicide equipment. THAT'S WHERE THE SUICIDE SHOP COMES IN. But then one day the owners of the shop (who already have 2 depressed children) have a son, who comes out of the womb SMILING and they're like THIS CANNOT BE OUR CHILD. And he grows up and he's always happy and balhblhablhabh and he makes everyone happy and believe in love again and they end up turning the Suicide Shop into a happy Crepe Shop the end. Except there's a weird part where he and his friends watch his sister dance naked with a scarf. I made that sound dirtier than it was meant to be.. but it was still weird. BUT I LIKED IT

Wait, can I just say I started this blog post at 9:30, broke for dinner, and DID NOT RETURN UNTIL JUST NOW (2:52 am). THE REASON WAS I WAS TALKING WITH MY HOST PARENTS FOR FOREVER. First we were talking geography (of which i know NOTHING), then I showed them my house on google maps, then Washington DC on google maps, then Soraya and I made fun of Fernando for wearing socks with sandals, then we started looking up baby animal videos LIKE THIS ONE:
OH and all this was going on whilst tomando unas cervezas. QUE. GUAY. SOY.
