So Alison, Caitlin, and I went to Plaza de Armas to redeem some tickets for the Cine Festival, but the movie we wanted to see (something Portuguese called Tabú) was AGOTADO ALL SOLD OUT.
And we were supposed to see it with Nacho y Fernando, so we were like ehh we'll just go home and figure it out on facebook. What we INITIALLY tried to do was HINT that we still wanted to watch a movie, and see if Nacho would invite us to his house for a movie because apparently it's BIG AND NICE. Alison went once when Caitlin and I were in Morocco.
But anyway, we went back on facebook and planned to see LOOPER (joseph gordon levitt) in the Nervion theater at midnight. WE THOUGHT THIS WAS THE THEATER that showed the originals of movies with subtitles, BUT IT WAS DUBBED. IT WAS ROUGH but we got good practice! I can say I understood most of the movie, it was just little details I missed.. and we finally got POPCORN <3
But while we were sitting in Plaza Nueva waiting to meet Nacho and Fernando, we were speaking in English to each other, and this cute couple came over to us, and the guy starts to say (in slow but understandable English), 'You guys are from America? I study Sports at the University of Sevilla, and we are doing a research project about sports around the World..'
So FIRST he asked us if any of us were athletic and we were like AWW POOR GUY YOU TOTALLY ASKED THE WRONG AMERICANS. heh. But then he was like, well then what would you say are the most popular sports in America? and we told him Football (americano), Baseball, and Basketball.. and they were so cute! They like, waited a little bit before leaving after having said thank you and such.. I wanted to be like LET'S BE FRIENDS but then they were just like Hasta Luego!
Whatever, I like when people are friendly! And when they try to speak your language :) Hopefully that's how Spaniards feel when I try to speak Spanish, even if I may botch it up..
Anyway yeah! Looper was great.. I can't wait to go back to America and understand the tiny detail that make the rest of the story make THAT MUCH MORE SENSE. But seriously, I totally understood enough of the movie that I wasn't completely lost. And that feels great!
It's a long walk to Nervion, so we were having fun chitchatting (IN NEARLY ALL SPANISH… a lot of the time, Nacho tries to SWITCH to English and we can't stop him and we're like NOOOOOO but this time he spoke mostly all Español)..about their time in Madrid, and their creepy hostel and the fun people they met..
They told us about this place in Madrid.. they didn't know if it was a piece of art or what.. It's in el Parque Retiro… en un Palacio de Cristal.. y se llama 'Anillos Dorados'… It's like, a whole bunch of rope wrapped around lots of columns, and then at one end the ropes meet and they are tied around a single golden ring… I'm curious, I want to see it when we go (NEXT WEEK) with our interest group!!
See what googling YIELDS:
