It's a small world after all!!!

SO BEFORE I tell you about Granada let me talk about THREE INSTANCES this weekend that made me realize how small this world is -

1.) When I met up with Delaney on Friday, I also met her three friends from her program. And later that night when we were getting TAPAS a La Cerveceria de La Sureña, one of them asked if I knew this girl Sam D. that went to GW. WELL I DO KNOW HER, SHE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE I MET AT ORIENTATION. Apparently they went to the same high school.

2.) When we were eating lunch right after we had gotten to Granada, I sat with this girl Lizzie, and I mentioned to her that my friend who was studying in Salamanca came to visit Sevilla and I showed her around. Lizzie was like, 'Oh, I think a girl from my high school is in that program! I saw her status that she was visiting Sevilla and I was going to say something but we're not that close and I haven't seen her in years.. her name is Delaney Walsh' UHHHH WUUUUUT

3.) When we were in La Alhambra, there was this boy with crutches walking around, and I assumed he was some Spaniard or something, because I assume everyone is a Spaniard. Well, he had these crutches, but he would put them down and walk around to take a picture, so it seemed like he didn't need them. So I quietly joked with my friends, 'I dare you to take the crutches and run!' Well, later I heard someone from behind say 'Rachel?' and I turned around and IT WAS CRUTCHES BOY. He took off his sunglasses - turns out it was a boy from my Stats Computing class.. I asked him if he was studying in Granada, but NO. HE'S STUDYING IN BARCELONA, HAPPENED TO COME DOWN TO GRANADA THIS WEEKEND, AND ALSO HAPPENED TO GO TO LA ALHAMBRA AT THE SAME TIME.

SERIOUSLY IS A SMALL WORLD.

Oh, and the fact that my roomie Kristin met Katie Ni, one of my close friends when I was in 4th grade, while studying abroad in London and now they like hang out all the time.

WEIRD.

Okay Granada --

Much cooler (temperature wise) and hillier than Sevilla! Also, the Alhambra was absolutely gorgeous (but unfortunately my camera does it no justice). My tour guide was my Gastronomia teacher, and my tour group was actually all the best people on my program. We got lucky! (But we didn't get to tour with Alejandro :P)

I took lots of pics, which will be on Facebook shortly I'm sure. We went out for Tapas later on Saturday, and found a place that gave you free tapas with a 2€ drink, but those were way to small so then we got PIZZA which I have been craving for FOREVZ and it was noms.

ALSO AT THE HOTEL, Alison and Caitlin and I roomed together, and when we first got to our room, there were 3 beds, two were close together and then there was a table, and then a third bed. SO WE MOVED THE TABLE AND PUSHED OUR BEDS TOGETHER AND HAD A SLEEPOVER. (apparently the pushing of beds together is called a 'lesbed' BUT IVE NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE WUTEVER WE WERE CUTE)

After Pizza, Alison and Brett and I went back to the Hotel at like 11 ish maybe.. most people were going out, apparently there was some discoteca in a CAVE that was really cool.. but after sleeping for only 2 hours and dozing on and off for an hour on the bus, I was in ZERO mood to go out. But we had a lot of fun watching youtube videos in our room on our PUSHED TOGETHER TRIPLE BED.

Then this morning we toured a city in Granada called Albaecin and I bought this COOL UPPER ARM BRACELET.. I guess Albaecin is full of hippies .. they were so nice, the lady said it's 18 but she'll bring it down to 15€ for me.. which I know is way too much either way but once I get my mind on buying something it's hard to convince myself not too :( I didn't really buy anything else but food in Granada anyway! And I like it, I feel like Pocohantas.. maybe I'll wear it with my Jasmine pants and just be SUPER DISNEY PRINCESSY.
Do you LOVE it?!? It matches my ring! (well, the ring I stole from my mommy!)
I have no idea how I'm going to get it home without breaking it... WEAR IT?

Oh lolol also at Albaecin, there was this gorgeous view, and this one boy in our program who is extremely flamboyantly gay was play-flirting with a Spanish Intercambio who joined us on the trip... he was trying to get him to take a picture with him, and he said something like 'AWW POR QUÉ NO PAPIII' ... well, the intercambio was nooooot having it loooool and when I saw this happening I laughed but then I turned away. WELL ALL OF I SUDDEN SOMEONE IS CUPPING MY RIGHT EAR AND THERE IS A VOICE IN MY LEFT EAR SAYING 'Necesito proteger mi culo!!!!' and after nearly jumping out of my SKIN I look to see it's the Intercambio, who must've seen me laugh and wanted to bond about it. BUT I DIDNT KNOW HIM WELL SO GETTING ALL UP IN MY EARS THREW ME OFF. But it was still pretty funny once I realized what was going on, and also what he meant by 'I need to protect my ass...'

Kind of like when I was hanging out with my Interest Group on Wednesday, Nacho and Juan were talking about how they saw Moulin Rouge together and loved it so much they went lots more times together. And I jokingly was like 'WOW HOW CUTE LIKE A DATE?' and made them feel super INCOMODO. And then I tried to take both their hands and make them hold hands and it was so funny because they were like 'NO NO NON NONO NOT A DATE NO NO'

heh heh

ummmmmm... segue...

Today is my parents' anniversary! Or at least, their anniversary of when they met.. yesterday was the anniversary of when they got married.. cute cute, I just sent them an email!

I also have to APPLY TO JPSM!!!!!! (potential AWESOME summer internship) THE ONLINE APPLICATION OPENED TODAY. Just gotta get a teacher recommendation and then the rest is easy. Hopefully it's not hard to do from so far away.

I don't know what else to say, I have a lot of reading and work to do boo boo boo ahhhhhhhhhh.

PS REGINA SPEKTOR IS IN CONNECTICUT NOW AT UCONN AND I'VE NEVER WANTED TO BE IN CONNECTICUT MORE. Heh but I love Spain so booo.

Edit: So during lunch, before we left Granada, these three Spanish guys came in with guitars to sing.. and apparently they do that every day at the hotel, because the waiter came over to us and said in broken (but still understandable English) - 'They play here everyday. I feel like my ears will explode. I go home, and I go to sleep with the songs in my head, and I have nightmares.' It was hilarious. Before he said that he came over and jokingly was like 'Next they're going to play Metallica!' ... BUT ANYWAY THE POINT OF THIS is that as we were leaving, I said 'Gracias, hasta luego!' and smiled, and he said 'Adios.. Búscame en el internet!' ..... Look for you on the internet? Like, I'm pretty positive he said that.. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE IT'S NOT LIKE I KNEW HIS NAME. Maybe he was just being funny.. but I was like wait wut lul?

Edit: So, the guides on the trip are CIEE Professors, and they were Consolacion (Gastronomía), Olga (Seminar), Ángel (Novella y Cine), and Fernando (Arte y Fiesta). So like, at school in the US you never see how professors interact with their friends, but here, we get to see that. AND IT'S ADORABLE. Seriously, they are so cute, they go out to dinner together, they go out to bars together, they laugh together and do silly dances (okay, so Ángel is the one that does the silly dance). They are actually the cutest in the way they interact.
