It can get pretty hot here in Sevilla...

...Which is why you should know how to express your discomfort! But don't be fooled... saying the wrong thing could get you into some TROUBLE.

Por ejemplo... it's hot outside. You're with your new Spanish friends.

You say: Tengo calor!!!!!
Expected Outcome: Your Spanish friends nod in agreement, thinking 'Wow, this American sure has a great command of the Spanish language, and I respect her for it! It also makes me want to be her best friend forever!
Real Outcome: Your Spanish friends nod in agreement, except they don't really think so because they're used to it and you're just being a baby.

However, what if you tried saying it another way?

You say: Estoy caliente!!!
Expected Outcome: Your Spanish friends nod in agreement, thinking 'Wow, this American sure has a great command of the Spanish language, and I respect her for it! It also makes me want to be her best friend forever!

REAL OUTCOME: Your Spanish friends don't even attempt to hide their laughter, especially the boys. One of the pervier ones may stand up and extend his hand to you, mentioning something about taking this to the bedroom. Why is that? You may be wondering. Well, Congratulations. You just told everyone at the party that you were horny.

HAPPY SPANISHING!

(And no, I luckily did not experience the outcome of this first hand)
