So at dinner, my host brother Fernando was watching LOS VENGADORES (The Avengers) in Spanish (claro) on his laptop and his headphones were on, but he took them off and was like Have you seen this? Do you wanna watch?
AND DUHH I will jump at the chance to bond with my host brothers! So I was like YEAAAAAAH. Then he explained what happened so far (I didn't understand much.. so fast!!!), and then we started watching... I can get SOMEWHAT of a gist of what's going on in the movie.. Once in a while.. I asked a couple questions in Spanish but LIKE I SAID I JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT TO SAY/HOW TO TALK when I'm with my family booo! Then Carlos joined us YAY.
The two brothers are actually so cute, they have a very cute brotherly dynamic, I've never seen them fight.
BUT THEN IT STARTED TO GET AWKWARD because Soraya wanted them to go to bed and everyone was yelling and I was like getting up to leave and she's like NO RACHEL YOU DONT HAVE TO GO TO BED THEY DO! So I was trapped and just sat awkwardly and then Soraya left the room for a bit..
But when she came back she was like FUMING and she unplugged the laptop and MORE YELLING (and swearing hehe). And I was just awkwardly smiling through the whole thing because in my mind it was kind of funny but if laughed that would be DANGEROUS so I WAS JUST AWKWARD INSTEAD. And then when the yelling started again I made my escape with a Spanish magazine Soraya had just given me!
NOW I CAN LEARN ALL MY POP CULTURE REFERENCES IN SPANISH
Also, Soraya just came in to apologize and vent about her boys who don't listen. I was like oh my gosh NO I'M SORRY. She's so sweet!
HAHA THEN SHE JUST CAME BACK AND SAID the only reason they were acting out so much was to act MACHO in front of me. OH MAN THAT MAKES ME FEEL SO GREAT. Then I think she said 'No soy una bruja!!' -- I'm not a witch!
Ahhh they're so funny I LOVE IT. Even with all my awkwardness :D
